Pioneers Rock!
Everyone goes through difficult times – and a group of Pioneers in Illinois came up with a unique idea to comfort those who are struggling.
Pioneers in Illinois began the Pioneers Rock project with the idea that they would like to provide something tangible to the members of their community. They decided to do so by providing rocking chairs to facilities throughout Illinois.
For this project, Pioneers assembled and distributed 59 rocking chairs. They chose high quality, comfortable rocking chairs to ensure that they would give the recipients many years of enjoyment. Pioneers also took care to brand each chair with “Donated by AT&T Pioneers Volunteers” to further spread the word about the great work Pioneers are doing.
The rocking chairs were distributed to variety of facilities throughout the state. Pioneers carefully chose facilities that care for both adults and children throughout times of need. The facilities included the Ronald McDonald House, VA Homes, retirement and nursing homes, domestic violence shelters, and physically challenged and special needs facilities. Additionally, Pioneers provided some child-size rocking to children’s museums and elementary school libraries to enhance the learning environment.
The rocking chairs were a wonderful addition to every facility that was selected, and Pioneers have received an overwhelmingly positive response to the gifts. It’s the hope of these Pioneers that the rockers will improve the quality of life for the members of their communities for many years to come.
